Monday 8th December, 2014 Its cold at Laggan today, the hills are all white and look amazing. There was a fall of snow over the weekend, the ground was white on Saturday morning but sadly it melted away, just staying on the hills.
Have just been looking at some photos of our lovely summer which have got me reminiscing for those halcyon days. Remember when you are planning your holiday that in May and June you get all that extra daylight and it is usually really warm with not to much rainfall, so try to make a change this year and beat the crowds by coming earlier in the season. Don’t forget to book early for 2015 to avoid disappointment and as an extra incentive we have a 5% early booking offer running at the moment.
It was a good year for West Highland Sailing with a mostly dry summer, just August let us down and September we had a heat wave (remember that when planning for next year!).
In October there was a months worth of rain fell in 2 days and we had a flood, for the 1st time the men could not get down on the pontoon, they had to row down in a dinghy and sail the boats over to the transit jetty and our customers left from there, just as well it was the last week we were open. It was fun and games! Check out the photo’s. The next day it was all calm.
We scooped an award from le-boat at their conference in France this November, it was for Best Overall Customer Feedback. It was a lovely surprise for Will and Sheila when they attended the conference.
It was a good year for wildlife sightings, the Osprey’s and Golden Eagles around Loch Lochy did not disappoint, the Pine Martins and Red Squirrels made a few appearances and there was the usual Red, Roe and Sika Deer. Managed to get a couple of snaps of some! There was also some Wild Boar sightings, they have made a foothold for themselves in the woods round all the lochs, some local farmers are none to pleased about the mess in their fields and the gardeners are up in arms. Our not so welcome Mink had another litter of young this year, they look so cute but are voracious killers. There was all the usual birds as well.
Our boats are undergoing winter maintenance at the moment, most are up in the safety of the Canal and the remainder are getting craned out for exterior work. So it is all hands on deck at this busy time, no rest for the wicked!!
You can add any photo’s you have and tell us about your holiday experience in 2014 on our face-book page by clicking on the link on our website, we look forward to hearing from you and seeing your pics!
